Person-centred therapy is an approach to counselling and psychotherapy developed by Carl Rogers. It is based on the fundamental belief that, given the right conditions, all human beings will grow, develop and try to reach their fullest potential. It is the therapist's job to provide those conditions by being genuine and understanding, and accepting the client fully without judgement.
A person-centred therapist regards each client as the expert in his or her own life. This means that I will not be telling you what you should be doing; instead, I will enable you to develop your own solutions to your problems, in your own unique way and at your own pace in a safe, supportive and confidential environment.
Person-centred therapy has been shown to be effective for people of all ages with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, effects of trauma, eating disorders, relationship problems and low self-esteem.
